Swordsman VR game modes
At the start of the game you’ll be dropped into a hub area where you can select any of the game modes, change settings, add game modifiers, buy new weapons and armor, and upgrade skills. The game modes include a campaign and arena mode. The campaign mode includes 5 worlds, each having 9 levels and a boss battle. Each of the levels have you fighting multiple waves of enemies with varying weapons and armor. As for the arena game mode, you can choose the difficulty of the enemies, amount of waves, and arena you fight in, then if you survive all waves you’ll get rewarded with gold and skill points. With these gold and skill points, that can be unlocked in both game modes, you can go and purchase new weapons, shields, armor, and upgrade skills. Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword
Each of the items you purchase effect stats like the weight, critical hit chance, defense, and other factors. As for the skill points you can put those towards a wide variety of different skills like speed, health, and strength. All of these features and items make the game more interesting and give a sense of progression as you keep playing. Though I will say it seemed to me that you could get the most powerful items in the game way too early on, making a bunch of levels in the campaign a breeze to play through. Horde: a zombie survival mode Various weapon types Player progression and RPG elements, Dozens of armors, weapons and shields (including powerful boss weapons), Campaign, Arena and Event modes, Lots of stats and skills to upgrade for your ideal character build.
The main hub of the game is a cozy tavern room where you can shop for equipment, customize your character, and select which level you’d like to play. It sets the atmosphere of the game and does a great job of making the RPG menus a more immersive experience. Each story area has a series of stages culminating in a boss fight. Stages take place in different environments such as a gladiator arena, skyrim-esque village, or eastern style dojo. Once you’ve entered the area, you’ll encounter several waves containing a variety of enemies outfitted with different weapons and armor. Combat feels good with weaponstrikes and punches both feeling impactful. With the recent improvements to throat grabbing, grappling and snapping necks also brings a unique satisfaction. Your Sword Is So Big
As you complete levels, you gain currency and exp for your character’s progression, allowing you to purchase better equipment or increase your stats back in the tavern room. Certain equipment has stat requirements in order for them to feel effective, keeping that feeling of excitement and progression – “just one more strength and maybe I can beat this boss”. Boss equipment comes with interesting abilities that can be xetremely impactful! Chronokinesis to slow time down (with a modifier to let you do it whenever you want) Gameplay modifiers to change the core game in fun and exciting ways Participate in real-life events for real-life prizes, The environments are well done, with the winter area being a personal favourite. The character models look good, and the music really bangs.
I’ve found this game to be pretty enjoyable, I typically will play through a 20 wave match on the highest difficulty every day or so just to play around after beating the main game. The combat system is pretty fun, parrying works pretty well and the roadmap for the game looks promising with consistent content updates and bug fixes. You will die a lot at the beginning until you are able to upgrade your skills and armor. The campaign is just fighting waves of enemies in different areas that have different kinds of weapons and armor ending with a boss level for each area and then a main boss after completing all previous ones. I turned on modifiers to make the game more challenging as well as without them head-stabs are instant kills which makes it a breeze to play through. COGEN Sword Of Rewind
(also super helpful to have if you are just starting out but once you get the hang of it and upgrade your gear I recommend removing it). I can see why some people don’t like it but if you like medieval fighting games then I definitely recommend giving it a shot. I’ve played just about every medieval sword-fighting VR game and while I wouldn’t say this is the best of all of them it has some of the best parry mechanics that actually feel rewarding to perform. There are still some improvements to be made but everything I feel is lacking in the game is confirmed to be added in the roadmap. Biggest con for me currently is bugs related to stabbing enemies as they will sometimes get stuck on your blade, quick fix, let go of your sword and telekinesis grab it.
