Within the vicinity, you will be able to find several very useful and basic items. The resources that you find will only get you so far, you will need to cut down trees, mine rocks, nodes or ice in order to create items that will protect you from the savagery of the islands of Tarvhas. Local Game

This option is used to start a single player (offline) game. When selected it will show a list of previously saved characters to choose from. The Create New button at the bottom left allows you to create a new character. Selecting a previously saved character will allow you to confirm the selection or to delete this character save. Creating a new character will bring you to the Create Character screen, which will be described in more detail in the next section. After selecting the character is confirmed or having finished creating a new character, a new list will show to select an existing game (world) to play in. you have the option to give it a name or you can leave it at the default which uses a date/time format. When selecting an existing game save, you have the option to delete it or confirm using it to play in with the previously chosen or created character. Characters created can be used to play in any game you wish, even in multiplayer. Inventory on your character will carry over. Location for your character to spawn in the game is stored with each game separately. With a new game you will always start at the beach on Snowmere. Games can be used in both single player as well as multiplayer, switching is possible. When creating a new character or world save using a name that already exists, a popup warning will show, asking for confirmation to overwrite or not.

Host Game

This option allows you to host a multiplayer game. You will be asked to either create a new or existing character and world to play. You will then be asked to make your multiplayer session Friendly (PvE) or Hostile (PvP) before the game actually loads. This is to prevent changing this setting once your game goes online. Currently Savage Lands allows up to 8 players maximum, including the host, to play in a multiplayer game (peer-to-peer). Host Options Once the game has loaded you can alter your Host Options through the Options menu using the ESC key. Within the Host Options, the following is available: Server Name: This will change the visible name in the server list. It will not change the name by which the game is saved. Sands of Salzaar

Server Password: Allows adding a required password for others to join your game. If left at default, no password will be required. Privacy has the following settings available in the drop-down menu: Anyone Makes your game public (default). Friends Only: Allows only your Steam friends and their Steam friends to join. Invite Only: Is not functional and results in the server not being visible to others. Choose a Player This drop-down button allows you to see which players are currently in your game. It is also used to select a player to be Kicked or Banned using the buttons next to it. Clear Ban List: This button will delete any previous bans. For a Friends Only server to show up in the server list, you will need to be logged in to Steam and show as online.
