with the squad-based gameplay that helped make Brothers In Arms famous. The game features many improvements over the 2 previous games – New graphics, weapons that actually kill enemies, new squad types for you to control. more colorful maps, sections of the game where you’re on your own to refresh the game a little bit (Although sometimes it’s very short and useless), instead of commanding a tank you actually control one, the story taking place in Nazi-occupied Netherlands which is rarely discussed in WW2 video games and many more improvements. With that being said, the game still has many flaws. The game added a weird slow motion headshot mechanic which might be cool at first but after a few times it gets old and for whatever reason the bullet is never in-sync
Movement – Movement animations are great and realistic. Whether you are walking, running or getting behind cover it feels like you are really in the battlefield. Engaging An Enemy – Your squad has two modes of engagement. If the Squad is in stealth mod, which means the enemy didn’t notice them they would move quietly, whisper and would not engage the enemy unless you order them to unless discovered your location which is when they switch to the other mod where they will open fire at engaging enemies even if you won’t order them to. Grenades & Explosives – Your squad will throw grenades at an enemy if they are close enough. The enemy will never throw a grenade at your squad, even tho they are equipped with grenades Battle Brothers
something which older games had featured which makes it odd. Recoil – The recoil of the weapons in the game is as realistic as it gets with most weapons. Just enough to keep the game enjoyable but still making your life hard to get a kill on enemy that is far away from you. Tanks and 88s – Feels like the enemy tanks and 88s are just waiting for you to destroy them. No huge effort is in order to destroy them unlike in older games where you needed to strategise your approach to 88s and tank positions in order to take them out or you would get your ass kicked. Sounds – The game has awesome sounds when it comes to the weapons and the ambient sounds that sorround you. Destroy Em! – Plus, unlike the first two games, in this game you can actually destroy objects.
Unlike the first two games, this game has taken the cutscenes to the next level. Almost feels like you are watching a movie. The game has great writing. The cutscenes are adding a lot to the game and to the emotions you feel while playing it. Almost feels like you are there with Baker. The dialogues during combat are amusing and at the same time feel real. Unlike in other games where when your teammates die you don’t feel anything because they were ‘Badass’, here you are connected to the characters, you care for them and you are concerned about them during battles. When a fellow team mate gets killed, it feels like someone has just kicked you in the stomach and it brings up feelings, almost to tears at some points. God of War: Ghost of Sparta
In addition to what I said, in this game Baker suffers from guilt as a result of the deaths of his friends during the battles in Normandy and you can see its affect on him through out the game. The locations of fights in the game are re-created real battles that took place in the real world, they were worked on by the developers team and historians to make the game more authentic and realistic. For example you can destroy sorts of covers and get your enemy out in the open and kill them. with the headshot itself. As mentioned before, there are sections where you play on your own like in CoD campaigns, while for the most part they provide a change from the regular gameplay, a lot of times they do not make sense – Out of nowhere you lose all of your squad members
